Paul Gainor

Senior Wealth Advisor & Portfolio Manager

“Simplicity often leads to better results. I help my clients understand their financial situation and see the path forward in a way that makes sense.”

In advising executives, professionals, and their families, I show my clients what’s possible and then provide them with the steps they need to get there. This can make a difference in how they achieve their desired results. Taking a structured, detailed approach, I present various options before we secure a comprehensive plan that they can easily understand and implement. This impacts more than their money. It also takes the stress out of relationships and considers action needed for compliance with tax and regulatory frameworks.

My wealth management support includes retirement planning, tax optimization and preparation, and estate planning. I also have particular experience in charitable giving. Having noticed that several of my clients were donating generous sums, I looked for different ways they could do this from a tax optimization perspective. I enjoy assisting my clients towards their efforts of becoming great at doing good.

Helping the next generation with their wealth is also an important part of my practice. I assist clients in gifting their children “training” portfolios to teach them financial literacy in areas of tax and investment planning. This helps ensure their loved ones are making informed financial decisions for their futures.

I began working with one of the legacy brands under National Bank Financial Wealth Management in 2006. I hold the Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®), Financial Management Advisor (FMA), and Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) designations. I also have a bachelor’s degree in Applied Financial Services.

Beyond the Office

I live in Calgary with my wife and have six children. If I’m not driving my kids to various activities, I’m likely coaching basketball or wake surfing.
