First meeting – what can you expect?

  • Our first meeting is a discovery period – for you as the investor – and for us as the advisors.
  • There are no obligations and there are no fees associated with this meeting.
  • The most important thing is that we connect with each other.   We may ask you questions about your family, your finances, your risk tolerance, and your investing experience.
  • You can also ask us your questions – how do we get paid, what you are looking for in an advisor, etc.
  • From here we will provide any of the following: education, recommendations, suggestions, and/or action plans.  We often book a follow-up meeting based on our conversations

Investment Management is also known as Portfolio Management; we are investing your assets with the goal of growing your financial wealth over time based on specific financial objectives (ex. retirement).

This can be accomplished within different time horizons, as well as cash flow needs, and the tax implications of your decisions.

Investment Philosophy:

  • Seek long term capital appreciation while minimizing risk and volatility.
  • Respect the clients risk tolerance
  • Educate client on market outlook and best risk adjusted returns
  • Regularly re-balance portfolio to align with your personal investment strategy
  • Build long term client relationships so we can create individual investment plans specific to your needs - the complete opposite from a "cookie cutter" investment approach.

Do you want to have peace of mind knowing your retirement plans are in line with your goals? Do you want to plan for a worst-case scenario? Financial plans are here to help you.

Financial planning consists of an analysis of your financial situation (personal and business) combined with an action plan and recommendations that will enable you to achieve your financial objectives.

Financial plans come in many sizes... to the very simple (a quick projection) to a very in depth look into your future. Talk to us to see what is right for you.

We have access to the complete line of National Bank's banking solutions.

A large part of a financial plan is an estate plan.  While you have worked hard to build substantial assets, an estate will go through how you would like these to be protected and distributed to your heirs according to your wishes.

The key is to find a balance between a client's wishes and the optimal financial and tax perspective.

We will work with you and lawyers to create an estate plan that is custom designed to meet the needs of your family, your heirs, your business interests, and your philanthropic considerations.

Risk Planning is designed to plan for worst case scenarios, whereby, we look to avoid financial setbacks in the event of death, disability, or illness.  Risk planning (aka insurance) is specific to each individual and depends on your financial security, dependents financial autonomy, and the maintenance of the family lifestyle.  Nearing retirement, insurance usually becomes a question of financial strategy.

Insurance needs evolve based on each client so it is important to have the right coverage (not too much and not too little).

Types of Insurance:

  • Life insurance (personal or business)
  • Critical illness insurance
  • Long-termcare insurance
  • Disabilityinsurance

Social Responsible Investing (SRI) is the integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into the selection of your portfolio or an investment.  There is growing evidence that SRI reduces risk and leads to superior long-term financial returns.  There is a growing consensus among investors that accurate valuations and proper risk management require greater disclosure and consideration of ESG issues (e.g. climate change, human rights labour relations, consumer protection, health and safety and aboriginal relations).

Negative screening is used on companies to determine if they are socially responsible.  Negative screening includes exclusions of weapons contracting, alcohol and tobacco production, pornography and gambling.  So you can know that your portfolio will not be in these areas of business.

Statistics show that more and more people are looking for socially responsible investment options.  Caroline Goode and Lois Beer completed the Responsible Investment Advisor Certification in August 2016 and continue to be active with the Responsible Investment Association.
