“Building a sound wealth strategy goes beyond just scratching the surface. It’s getting to the heart of what matters through the deep conversations that people want, but seldom get to have.”
While I officially have 30+ years’ experience advising clients and their families, I began honing my craft closer to age 16 when my interests in business and finance first surfaced. Growing up in northern BC, I got my first lessons as part of our family business. That curiosity later became a calling.
My career began at BMO Nesbitt Burns in 1993, later joining Gordon Private Client Corporation. In June of 1999, I co-founded McLean & Partners Wealth Management (M&P) on a simple but bold premise: deliver truly unbiased and independent investment solutions backed by rigorous, quality in-house research.
In April 2013, our team formed a strategic partnership with Canadian Western Bank (CWB), which took a majority interest in the firm. The move allowed us to expand while maintaining our boutique roots. As President & CEO of the newly named CWB Wealth Partners, I contributed to the growth and leadership of the bank’s Wealth arm overall, while still growing the CIRO boutique of our business. When National Bank acquired CWB in 2025, our team embarked on a new journey by returning to our boutique roots, now under National Bank Financial. Following our transition to National Bank Financial and the evolution of our partnership structure, we introduced the 801 Wealth name to reflect the enhanced scale, capabilities, and direction of our team.
Today, our purpose is clear: “Stewarding futures with clarity, care, and conviction.”
Having built this firm with my partners over the years and being involved with the selling of M&P business into CWB and then the ensuing transition to National Bank, I am able to draw on this experience to connect with and guide current and retired business owners, family offices, foundations, and small institutions. My expertise has supported clients through multi-generational wealth transfers and changing market cycles, where adaptability and education are key due to the evolving nature of family dynamics. My goal is to simplify the complexities of financial markets, so clients understand not only where their money is, but why it’s positioned that way for a better future.
I attended the University of Calgary and Simon Fraser University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. I also hold the Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) designation, along with my options trading licence.
