CFP professionals are the largest identifiable body of licensed financial planners in Canada.  In life, it’s important to find a financial planner you trust to provide sound, unbiased advice and professional services. Being CFP® certified means someone has voluntarily taken the extra steps needed to provide the highest possible standard of financial planning to those they serve. To become a Certified Financial Planner™ one must pass the comprehensive CFP® Certification Exam, have a minimum of three years’ professional experience in financial planning process and must be approved by the CFP Board, which involves an extensive background check – including an ethics, character and criminal check. To maintain certification, CFP® license holders must complete 25 hours of continuing education accepted by the CFP Board every year.

The Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) Designation builds the skills and experience we need to serve a more sophisticated financial client or institution. Financial professionals who hold the CIM designation are eligible for registration as a Portfolio Manager in Canada. They have expertise in providing money management services to high-net-worth and institutional clients, and they understand the application of portfolio management in the context of Canadian markets and regulatory requirements. A CIM identifies clients' objectives and constraints; develops appropriate investment policies and strategies, taking into consideration market and economic conditions; and evaluates investment products that represent both traditional and alternative asset classes; and implements policies and strategies through portfolio construction.
