Gord’s success with his clients comes through his diligent and consultative approach in building financial plans, combined with a passion for providing good investment advice and exceptional client service. Gord has been a Wealth Advisor since 2000 with BMO Nesbitt Burns, Wellington West Capital and National Bank Financial.
Gord played four years of professional hockey in the NHL with the Edmonton Oilers, Minnesota North Stars and the Hartford Whalers from 1983-1987. He was a member of the Canadian Olympic Hockey Team in 1988 and had 12 successful seasons in the German and Swiss Elite Hockey Leagues. While in Europe, Gord became fluent in German and served five years as Treasurer and Board Member of the German Professional Hockey Players Association.
Gord resides in Calgary with his wife Donna.
In The Community
Gord has been a very active in a number of organizations over the years and in 2002 received the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Medal in recognition of his significant achievements and outstanding contributions to his community and to Canada. In May of 2012 he was a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for community service.
- Hockey Canada: Member of the Board of Directors for Hockey Canada from 2000 until 2014. This board helps direct all aspects of change and development in the game in Canada.
- Current Chair of the Team Canada Hockey Alumni Association (TCAA): Gord was instrumental in starting and developing the recruitment of the Team Canada Alumni membership that has grown to over 3000 members. This association will help former players reconnect with the game and to continue to honour and celebrate our rich hockey traditions as well as raise funds to support the Hockey Canada Foundation. TCAA golf tournaments and fantasy games have raised in excess of $400,000.
- Vice President Alberta Notre Dame Alumni
- The Athol Murray College of Notre Dame Sports Dinners: Co-Chair for these events in 2005 & 2007 and 2011, which have raised in excess of $100,000 for students. Current Vice-President of the Alberta Alumni.
- Local Community Sports: Gord coached minor hockey and soccer teams for 8 years.
- Heart and Stroke Foundation: Gord regularly canvassed for this foundation for 15 years.
- Calgary Special Olympics: Spending time with these great young athletes and helping them at their events has been extremely rewarding for Gord.
- Calgary Flames Alumni: He has been an active member of the Calgary Flames Alumni, contributing to their many fundraising events in Calgary and southern Alberta.
- Canadian Hockey Foundation: Steering Committee member for the 2008 and 2013 Hockey Canada Foundation Celebrity Classic Gala Dinner/Golf Events, which raised in excess of $1,000,000 for the foundation for both events.

Perry has been a Wealth Advisor since 1996 with Nesbitt Burns, Wellington West and National Bank Financial. Before becoming an advisor, Perry played nine seasons in the NHL for the Calgary Flames (1985-1989), Minnesota North Stars (1989-1991) and the San Jose Sharks (1991-1993). In 1986 he was credited with the infamous “Steve Smith goal” that won the Calgary Flames the series in Game 7 against the Edmonton Oilers. After retirement, Perry returned to school to complete his Business Degree at the University of North Dakota. He is renowned for his community involvement through his work with the Calgary Flames Alumni and numerous charitable organizations in Southern Alberta. Perry was recognized by the Rotary Club of Calgary with the distinguished Integrity Award for his community work and showing the qualities of sound moral principles, honestly and sincerity. Perry lives in Calgary with his wife Marie and their three children.
In The Community
Perry is recognized for his community involvement through his
efforts with the Calgary Flames Alumni and numerous charitable
organizations in Southern Alberta. These include: Gordie Howe CARES
(Centre for Alzheimer’s Research and Education Society) , Calgary
Special Olympics, KidSport Calgary, Calgary Cerebral Palsy Kids and
Families, Goal on Sight, and many more. Perry’s charitable
contributions are not limited in Southern Alberta. In 2009, 2010 and
2011, he completed 3 excursions to Afghanistan to visit our Canadian
Forces in Kandahar with the NHL Alumni. He is also active in the
Calgary media through work on radio and television as a regular
commentator on sports and financial themes. As a result of our
